With my oldest, we used the Royal potty chair (which was a throne), and it worked fine. But with my second, she saw her big sister using the big potty, and she was not interested in the little potty seat. I had a friend, who is a dwarf and uses this potty seat for her tiny daughter, suggest this seat to me. I was willing to try anything, so I quickly bought it and my daughter loved it! She was potty trained within a week, and used this seat for a while afterward.
It DID end up getting broken when a friend put their little boy on it (he is heavier than my daughter, and is a boy, so he is more rough!), but by then, my daughter was completely potty trained and could sit on the toilet with a step stool instead. So it was well worth the purchase price to me!!

Great concept, a little wobbley. I love the concept of this since my toddler has to do everything for himself. It is a little wobbley and he did not feel safe getting up on it without me holding it still.

started using a year ago when son was 2 3/4yrs, he used it to do both, now for only for #2 at 3 3/4 years, he needs no assistance, this allows independence.

We purchased 2 of these from Target.com 10 1/2 months ago. Within a week of receiving them, one of the hinges broke. When the hinge breaks, there is nothing to support the child from falling to the floor.
We called the company (Mommy's Helper) and they sent out replacement hinges. We figured it was just a fluke that they broke, so we got the new hinges and replaced them. Within 6 months the replacement hinges they sent us were also broken. The last time it happened caused our child to fall an hit their head on the wall. Now, not only was the hinge broke but so was the plastic bracket that holds the step to the rail.

I do not want my children using these anymore, so now I am forced to go back to Target, who I am sure will honor something they sold that is defective. The company sure will not support you.
My opinion, unless you want to see your child get hurt, buy something else and avoid this company!

This is a must for potty-training. I tried everything with my son when he was 2 years, 9 months (sticker rewards, little potty seats, toilet rings) but to no avail. A coworker told me about this product and I thought it was worth a shot. After showing him how to set it up on Friday, he was potty-trained by Sunday. He LOVES that he can do it "by myself" (typical 3 year old). I hightly recommend this product to any parent who wants to potty train in a relaxed, kid empowering environment

My oldest child is almost 21 years old and even though the style has changed a bit, all three of my children love(d) it. They feel they are just like the grown-ups by sitting on the same toilet while having the security of not falling in and using the step to hygenically place their legs/feet away from the actual toilet. It's worth every penny of the price you pay.

The description said the seat would fit most elongated and round bowls. We found that on our elongated seats, the padded seat collapsed in the back. It tried to fall into the actual bowl everytime. Our daughter was scared after that and unless you want to hold the seat in place each time, I do not recommend this! We bought the cushie tushie seat (by the same maker) since then and it works great. It stays on the seat securely. We just bought a little step stool for her to use. [...] Much safer based on our experience.

We bought this type of potty seat because our son is tall and likes all things adult-size, so this seemed like a better fit than a free-standing potty chair. He's broken the pegs in the step twice and we've had to reinforce it with metal screws and nuts. Also the padded seat is not high enough in the front to block a little boy who is peeing while sitting down. We do like how it folds up, and that it stays put once he is sitting on it. Overall, though, it is not worth the money. We're going tomorrow to buy the $11 Dora the Explorer seat with the clip on guard.

This works perfectly for us. It fits our toilet just fine, my son can climb onto the toilet himself--even put it on if necessary. This is a great transition from the potty chair to the toilet when a child is not ready for a step stool alone. He REALLY likes having the handles to help him get up, and to adjust his sitting position. But, my son is a little over 3 and very well coordinated. I don't know if he would have been able to use it at 2. It is rather flimsy, but he weighs 40+ pounds and it hasn't come apart. If you are tired of emptying a potty chair this may work well for you.

While the concept is great, we have had a lot of problems with our 24-mo old almost tipping it over as she is crawling onto it. I've tried it on carpet and wood and it just isn't working well. I'm quite disappointed because it does fold up nicely to store and the seat is really comfortable, but safety-wise, I'd buy something else.
